5 Heroic Middle Schoolers Jump Into Action After 1 Bus Driver Loses Consciousness

Five middle school students in Hancock County, Mississippi, are being hailed as absolute heroes by their community after stepping up to stop a runaway school bus. The incredibly intense situation unfolded last Wednesday when their 45-year-old bus driver, Leah Taylor, experienced a sudden and terrifying medical emergency right in the middle of her shift.
While driving her usual daily route with a bus completely full of students, Taylor unexpectedly suffered a severe asthma attack. The attack escalated so quickly that she completely passed out and lost consciousness while still behind the wheel of the large vehicle.

Seeing their driver suddenly incapacitated and realizing the extreme danger of the situation, the five brave middle schoolers immediately recognized that they needed to take control. Rather than panicking, they quickly jumped into action and successfully worked together to bring the moving bus to a complete and safe stop.

Following the harrowing incident, Taylor spoke to ABC News South Mississippi affiliate WLOX to express her deep, overwhelming appreciation for the kids' quick thinking and bravery. "I had a medical emergency, and the students stepped up," she proudly stated. "I can't thank these students enough".
