Rudy Giuliani remains hospitalized in critical condition at a facility in West Palm Beach after being admitted with severe respiratory complications, but individuals close to his family say his condition has recently improved.

According to sources familiar with his care, Giuliani has been removed from a ventilator and is now breathing independently, a development described as a significant step in his recovery. Medical staff continue to classify his condition as critical while monitoring his progress in the intensive care unit.

Doctors have reportedly observed additional improvements, including Giuliani regaining consciousness and engaging in limited conversations with family members and hospital personnel. Those close to him say the changes, though still delicate, have provided cautious optimism.

“He’s showing signs of strength,” one individual close to the family said. “The situation is still very serious, but we are seeing positive signs.”

Giuliani, 81, was taken to a West Palm Beach hospital over the weekend after experiencing respiratory distress. Physicians later determined he was suffering from pneumonia affecting both lungs, leading to his placement on a ventilator shortly after arrival.

He is widely known for serving as mayor of New York City from 1994 through 2001, gaining national recognition for his leadership following the September 11 attacks. Sources noted that he has dealt with long-term lung issues connected to his exposure during that period.

Despite the recent improvements, individuals close to Giuliani emphasized that his condition remains serious and that he continues to receive intensive medical care.

“He’s not out of danger yet — but he’s improving and fighting, and that means everything right now,” the source said.
