President Donald Trump sharply criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and the country of Somalia during a campaign-style rally in The Villages, Florida, accusing the Minnesota congresswoman of criticizing the United States after immigrating from what he described as a deeply troubled nation.

Speaking to a packed crowd, Trump focused much of his remarks on his administration’s ongoing effort to crack down on fraud within federal entitlement programs. He said his team has “launched a war on fraud” aimed at protecting Medicare and Medicaid from what he described as widespread abuse.

“To further stop Medicare and Medicaid from being looted by criminals and thugs, we’ve launched a war on fraud,” Trump told supporters. “You’ve been watching it in the papers; we’re all over Minnesota, California, all over the place. They’re taking down hundreds and hundreds, and even thousands of people a week — in a day.”

Trump praised Vice President JD Vance for leading the administration’s anti-fraud task force, saying Vance is “doing a great job” coordinating investigations and enforcement efforts across multiple states.

According to Trump, the crackdown has particularly focused on alleged fraud cases involving members of the Somali immigrant community in states such as Minnesota and California. Without citing specific new figures during the rally, Trump repeated earlier claims that billions of taxpayer dollars had been improperly obtained through fraudulent schemes.

Turning directly to Omar, Trump questioned her criticisms of U.S. policy and governance.

“They come here, and Ilhan Omar — do you ever hear of her? She heads it,” Trump said, referring broadly to what he described as fraud networks. “Think of it, they have nothing but crime, poverty, pollution — everything is horrible over there, nothing good. They say it’s the worst country anywhere in the world. We got some beauties out there, but it’s the worst. Then she comes here, from Somalia, and she tells us how to run the United States of America.”

Trump also took issue with Omar’s references to constitutional rights, stating that she frequently cites the U.S. Constitution in defending her positions.

“She says the Constitution gives her certain rights, and she demands to be given these rights,” Trump said. “That’s what she talks about.”

The remarks echoed comments Trump made earlier this year during his State of the Union address, when he formally announced what he described as a sweeping national campaign against corruption and fraud within government programs.

“When it comes to the corruption that is plundering America, there’s been no more stunning example than Minnesota,” Trump said during that February address. “Members of the Somali community have pillaged an estimated $19 billion from the American taxpayer. We have all the information, and in actuality, the number is much higher than that.”

He also claimed that other states, including California, Massachusetts, and Maine, were facing similar or worse levels of fraud, calling the alleged misconduct “the kind of corruption that shreds the fabric of a nation.”

Omar, one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress and a frequent critic of Trump’s policies, has repeatedly pushed back against accusations linking her to wrongdoing and has defended immigrant communities in her state.

Trump’s comments at The Villages rally were met with applause from supporters, underscoring how immigration, government spending, and anti-fraud initiatives remain central themes in his political messaging. Critics, however, argue that his rhetoric risks unfairly targeting entire communities while escalating political tensions.

The exchange marks the latest chapter in a long-running feud between the president and the Minnesota lawmaker — a clash that continues to highlight sharp divisions over immigration policy, entitlement reform, and the tone of national political discourse.
