The attempt took place over the weekend at Chelsea Town Hall, where the tiramisu was prepared and assembled live in accordance with Guinness World Records guidelines. The chefs used approximately 150,000 ladyfinger biscuits and 20,000 eggs to complete the dessert.
The project was led by Mirko Ricci, who previously held the title in 2017 before it was overtaken by another Italian team in 2019. Ricci described tiramisu as Italy’s most remarkable culinary export and said the decision to stage the attempt in the United Kingdom was intended as a gesture of appreciation to the country.
He added that the dessert was dedicated to the King and the Royal Family, and it was finished with a decorative golden crown. Ricci also expressed gratitude to those involved in organising and participating in the event, calling it a shared achievement.
Chef Carmelo Carnevale noted that, to qualify for the record, the tiramisu needed to measure at least 8 centimetres in height and 15 centimetres in width. He added that a high-quality tiramisu depends on strong coffee, a well-balanced cream, and passion in its preparation.
