

Margao, Goa: After a long wait, young Goan athlete Archi Katkar has brought pride to the state by securing a silver medal at the 40th Junior National Championship 2025, marking a significant milestone in her promising sporting journey.
Born on March 6, 2012, Archi hails from Margao and is currently a student of Vidya Vikas Academy. From her early years in playgroup, Archi displayed exceptional talent in sports, consistently earning the “Athlete of the Year” title at her school’s annual sports day events.
Her sporting journey began at a young age with chess, where she won several tournaments. At just six years old, she ventured into gymnastics, participating in multiple competitions and earning medals, including a bronze at the Goa State level.
Archi’s versatility extends beyond athletics. She has shown keen interest in table tennis and has also participated in inter-school yoga competitions, reflecting her all-round abilities.
At the age of 11, Archi began formal athletics training under the guidance of coach Patrick Soares. Since then, she has rapidly risen through the ranks, winning multiple state-level competitions. Her notable achievements include a bronze medal at the West Zone Championship held at Shri Sant Tukadoji Maharaj University Ground in 2024, followed by an impressive silver medal at the national level competition held at Kalinga Stadium in 2025.
Apart from sports, Archi continues to excel academically. She has won a bronze medal at an international Vedic Maths competition and secured first place at the Goa State-level Spell Bee contest.
Known for her energy, dedication, and ever-smiling attitude, Archi Katkar is emerging as one of Goa’s brightest young talents. Her ability to balance academics and multiple sporting disciplines with enthusiasm and commitment sets her apart as a role model for aspiring athletes across the state.
