Law enforcement officers are trained to expect the unexpected, but the Bexar County Sheriff's Office recently had an early morning call that was entirely unprecedented. As the department hilariously noted, they've handled plenty of wild situations on patrol, "but a furry friend on a roof was definitely not on the bingo card for this morning".
While most pampered pups were perfectly happy to "celebrate National Pet Day with a nap or an extra treat," one highly ambitious dog decided to take the annual holiday "to new heights - literally!". The four-legged daredevil somehow managed to scale an entire house, only to get himself hopelessly stuck on the shingles. The sheriff's office joked that the canine suspect quickly realized "that the view is a lot better when you actually have a plan for getting back down".

Realizing this was a bit outside their standard jurisdiction, the deputies "had to call in the big guns from Bexar County ESD 2 to help talk the suspect off the shingles". What followed was a tense, highly unusual scene of "high-altitude negotiations and a ladder" before the furry adventurer was finally "safely assisted back to solid ground and returned to his owner".

Fortunately, the suspect avoided jail time. The department issued a strict, official update following the rescue: "No citations were issued, but he’s been advised that his residential roofing permit has been revoked. He'll be spending the rest of the day grounded".
The internet, of course, absolutely loved the roof-scaling pup. Tony Brzozowski sympathized with the dog's architectural ambitions, commenting, "Poor doggie just wanted a better view of the neighborhood"!.

Meanwhile, Trish Laura issued a stark warning to the owners about the pup's newfound skills: "If he got up there on his own, he'll do it again. He learned a new trick that gets attention".
And asking the real, hard-hitting questions about standard first responder protocols, Danielle Kesteloot joked, "Did fire respond and say sorry we only do cats???".
