Senior American figures Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to travel to Kyiv later this month, according to a senior Ukrainian official, in a move that signals renewed momentum in efforts to revive stalled peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.

The anticipated visit was disclosed by Kyrylo Budanov, a key aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Speaking on Saturday, Budanov indicated that preparations were underway for high-level discussions that could take place shortly after Orthodox Easter, which falls on April 12 this year.

Budanov said the delegation could include not only Kushner and Witkoff but also U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, suggesting a broad American presence aimed at re-energizing diplomatic channels. He noted that additional participants may join, though final details are still being determined.

If confirmed, the trip would mark the first official visit to Kyiv by both Witkoff and Kushner. While the two have previously engaged with Ukrainian representatives during meetings in the United States, their diplomatic activity has also extended to Moscow, where they held discussions with Russian officials as part of earlier backchannel efforts.

The planned visit comes at a delicate moment for international diplomacy. Negotiations facilitated by Washington to end the protracted conflict between Ukraine and Russia had shown intermittent progress before faltering in the wake of escalating tensions in the Middle East. A series of military actions involving the United States and Israel targeting Iran triggered retaliatory strikes across the region, diverting global attention and complicating ongoing diplomatic initiatives.

The renewed push to bring American envoys to Kyiv underscores a broader effort to stabilize negotiations and reestablish dialogue between the warring parties. Ukraine has consistently emphasized the need for sustained international engagement to counterbalance Russia’s military pressure and to advance prospects for a negotiated settlement.

For Kyiv, the potential visit also represents an opportunity to reinforce its strategic relationship with Washington and to ensure that Ukraine remains a central focus of U.S. foreign policy despite competing geopolitical crises. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly warned that shifting global priorities could risk prolonging the conflict if diplomatic momentum is not maintained.

While no formal agenda for the visit has been released, discussions are expected to center on pathways toward a ceasefire, security guarantees for Ukraine, and mechanisms to address territorial disputes. Observers say the involvement of high-profile American figures could help bridge gaps that have persisted in earlier rounds of negotiations.

The outcome of the proposed meetings may prove pivotal in determining whether diplomatic efforts can regain traction after months of uncertainty. With the conflict now entering its fourth year, both sides face increasing pressure from the international community to explore viable avenues toward de-escalation and a long-term resolution.
