The United States is sending more than 6,000 additional troops to the Middle East as part of an expanded military deployment tied to the ongoing conflict with Iran, according to a report by the Associated Press.

The deployment includes the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush and three accompanying destroyers, which departed for the region on Tuesday. Together, the carrier strike group brings thousands of service members as part of a broader effort to reinforce U.S. military presence.

The latest movement follows nearly five weeks of sustained conflict, during which the Pentagon has repositioned forces from multiple locations worldwide. Earlier deployments included the USS Tripoli from Japan and elements of the 82nd Airborne Division from the continental United States.

The incoming carrier group is expected to replace the USS Gerald R. Ford, which is leaving the region for repairs after experiencing technical issues.

President Donald Trump has indicated that diplomatic efforts related to the conflict have shown signs of progress but has continued to maintain that all military options remain under consideration.

While the administration has not announced plans for a ground operation, the possibility has not been ruled out. Public opinion polling has indicated limited support for deploying ground troops.

The additional deployment underscores the scale of ongoing U.S. military operations in the region as tensions with Iran continue.
