A tiny dachshund named Gus is winning hearts after a video captured him quietly watching his owners, Hannah Duane Schott, 34, and Tyler Joseph Schott, 35, exchange vows during their wedding ceremony on Shelter Island, New York.
In the now-viral clip, shared on Instagram by Jesse Reichenbaum, owner of Wedding Day Content Co., Gus sits near the front row and appears completely absorbed in the moment, gazing up at the couple as they say “I do.” His calm, affectionate reaction quickly became one of the sweetest highlights of the day — and later, one of the most emotional memories for the bride herself.

Reichenbaum’s video showed the couple’s beloved pup looking up with soft, unwavering attention as the ceremony unfolded.
“When the love is in your dog’s eyes the whole ceremony,” Wedding Day Content Co. wrote in an onscreen caption.

Gus, a 3-year-old English cream miniature long-haired dachshund, was not included in the wedding simply for a cute photo opportunity. He has clearly become an important part of Hannah and Tyler’s life together.
The couple adopted him about two years before their June 14 wedding, after bringing him home in early summer 2023, shortly after they moved in together in New York City. From the very beginning, Gus became part of their shared life.
Before the ceremony, he was walked down the aisle by the groom’s youngest sister, Julie, serving as ring bearer before settling in with family.
Speaking with People, Hannah shared how natural it felt to include him in the celebration.
“Gus is just our favorite little guy,” Hannah told People. “Our family and friends can’t get enough of him either, so it was no question he would walk down the aisle as our ring bearer and sit next to us as we took our vows.”
That sense of closeness is what gives the story its emotional pull. Gus was not simply present at the wedding — he was woven into it.
What made the footage so moving was not that Gus did anything dramatic. In fact, it was the opposite.

Hannah shared with People that The Pridwin Hotel and Cottages was already a meaningful place in their relationship — and in Gus’ life too.
“The first time Tyler and I ever stayed at The Pridwin, it was July 4 weekend 2023, just after we got Gus. It’s safe to say The Pridwin is a special place to all of us ... we’ve never been there without him!”
That detail adds another layer to the story: This was not just a beautiful wedding venue, but a place tied to shared memories and family beginnings.
While Gus’ reaction in the video touched hearts online, Hannah also offered a playful glimpse into what he may have actually been thinking in the moment.
“I think Gus was probably a little confused — why is this party so quiet? — but he was surrounded by all his favorite people and got lots of cheers and claps walking down the aisle,” she told People.
That mix of innocence and joy feels exactly right for a dog at a wedding.
And in the end, Hannah may have summed it up best.
“So to sum it up, he was in his happy place as the star of the show,” she told People.
Gus did not just appear for the ceremony. According to People, he also joined his owners throughout the wedding weekend, including the welcome festivities, the pickleball tournament, the barbecue and the after-party celebrations.
That kind of inclusion says everything about the role he plays in Hannah and Tyler’s life.

Reflecting on their early days together, Hannah shared with People how quickly Gus became central to their lives.
“He quickly became both the biggest love and terror in our lives, testing our relationship and showering us with snuggles and that endless puppy energy!” Hannah said. “He’s our best friend.”
