Four people were injured Wednesday evening following a three-vehicle crash in Batavia, according to local police. Authorities confirmed that one of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
The crash occurred at the start of the busy evening rush hour near the intersection of Randall Road and Mill Street, a heavily traveled area that typically sees increased traffic congestion during peak commuting times.
Police said the incident began when a Tesla attempted to make a left turn at the intersection. During the maneuver, the vehicle collided with an oncoming Dodge pickup truck. The force of the crash caused significant damage to both vehicles and left multiple occupants injured.
Emergency responders arrived quickly on the scene to assess the situation and provide medical assistance. A passenger inside the Tesla was critically hurt and transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, authorities said. Three other individuals involved in the crash sustained injuries described as less severe, though their exact conditions have not yet been publicly detailed.
A third vehicle was also involved in the incident. However, officials noted that it did not suffer major damage, and no serious injuries were reported from that vehicle.
The intersection was temporarily impacted as first responders worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police have not yet released additional information about what may have led to the collision, including whether speed, traffic signals, or other contributing factors played a role.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said more details will be provided as they become available.
