Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country is prepared to assist the United States in its conflict with Iran, emphasizing Ukraine’s experience confronting Iranian-made drones and offering support to defend American personnel.

In a series of interviews released Monday, Zelensky stated that Ukraine had already taken steps to aid U.S. efforts following the launch of American military operations against Iran.

Speaking to the New York Post in an interview published Monday, Zelensky said Ukraine “reacted immediately” when U.S. operations began.

“Whenever it is possible for us to help defending civilians or US nationals, without second thought we sent our teams,’’ he said, adding that Ukrainian specialists with experience countering Iranian Shahed drones had been deployed to assist U.S. efforts in the Middle East.

Zelensky also used social media to underscore Ukraine’s position as an active partner rather than a passive recipient of assistance. In a statement, he said, “I would like the U.S. not to perceive Ukraine as a country that merely asks for help. That is not the case. Ukraine is defending interests and values.”

He added that global coordination was necessary to address emerging threats, stating, “We need to act as quickly as possible, and the whole world needs to wake up.”

Zelensky argued that modern conflicts are increasingly defined by technological capability, warning that without coordinated efforts among allies, further escalation was likely.

“Security comes from having the most advanced technologies and constantly developing them. If we don’t come up with a quick solution, if we don’t join forces with our allies leveraging the technology and expertise that have emerged from the war, if there is no combat-capable security alliance, then war will ensue,” he said.

The Ukrainian president pointed to his country’s experience with Iranian drone systems, widely used by Russian forces during the ongoing war in Ukraine, as a key area where Kyiv could contribute. He described Ukrainian military personnel as “number one in the world” in understanding the technology behind the Shahed drones.

“We could build the world’s biggest drone factory,” Zelensky said, suggesting a partnership in which the United States would provide funding and production capacity while Ukraine would contribute technical expertise. “We can use it to defend American soldiers on bases.”

In additional interviews with i24NEWS and the Jerusalem Post, Zelensky reiterated concerns about Iran’s role in supplying drones used in attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure and civilian areas.

“We want the world to stop Iran as quickly as possible,” he said, adding that Ukrainian engineers examining recovered drones had identified components linked to Russia.

“Ukraine was kind of an experiment place for these drones in the end,” Zelensky told the Jerusalem Post. “You can’t even compare the first class [of] Shahed, what was at the very beginning of the war, and today’s Shahed.”

“They [Iran and Russia] want to kill as many civilians as possible. And they want to destroy energy, oil, gas, and any kind of power generation,” he said.

Zelensky stated that Ukraine remains “ready” to assist but noted that the extent of its involvement would depend on decisions by partner nations.

The comments come as President Donald Trump has urged allied countries to contribute to securing the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route, following threats from Iran targeting vessels in the region.

While Ukraine has expressed willingness to assist, Trump indicated the United States does not require additional support. In remarks to NBC News, reported in a statement, he said, “We don’t need help. The last person we need help from is Zelensky.”

In a separate interview, Trump added that the United States already maintains advanced drone capabilities, stating, “We know more about drones than anybody. We have the best drones in the world, actually.”

Zelensky’s remarks reflect ongoing efforts by Ukraine to position itself as a strategic partner in global security matters, particularly as it continues to confront Iranian-supplied weaponry in its own conflict with Russia.
