The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have launched a major operation against the Hezbollah terrorist organization in direct response to recent rocket and drone attacks on Israel from Lebanon.

The strikes targeted multiple Hezbollah bases across Lebanon, including a site allegedly used by the group to store Iranian weapons, which was destroyed in the operation.

In the opening phase of Operation “Roaring Lion,” the IDF carried out precise strikes that eliminated several high-value targets.

Hussein Makled, head of Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters, was killed in a targeted strike in Beirut.

The operation also neutralized senior members of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence, including Sayed Yahya Hamidi, the Deputy Minister of Intelligence for “Israel Affairs,” who was responsible for directing terrorist activities against Jews, Western actors, and regime opponents both inside Iran and abroad.

Jalal Pour Hossein, head of the Espionage Division, was also eliminated, along with additional senior Iranian officials involved in global terrorism and domestic repression.

As part of the coordinated salvo, the Israeli Air Force struck the Ministry of Intelligence headquarters in Tehran.

Hezbollah, Iran’s primary proxy force in Lebanon, fired the rockets and drones at Israel in retaliation for the U.S.-Israeli operation that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on February 28–March 1, 2026.

In an official statement, the IDF declared: “In response to projectile fire toward northern Israel, the IDF is striking Hezbollah targets across Lebanon. Hezbollah is operating on behalf of the Iranian regime, opening fire against Israeli civilians, and bringing ruin to Lebanon. IDF troops have prepared for such a scenario as part of Operation ‘Roaring Lion’ and are prepared for an all-fronts scenario.”
