The man who opened fire at an Austin, Texas, nightclub, killing two people and injuring several others, was reportedly wearing a shirt bearing the phrase “Property of Allah,” according to reporting by FOX News correspondent Bill Melugin.
Melugin first disclosed the detail in a social media post available here, stating that law enforcement sources confirmed the wording on the suspect’s clothing at the time of the shooting.
Authorities have identified the suspect as a 53-year-old man originally from Senegal, a West African nation. The suspect was killed during an exchange of gunfire with responding officers, Melugin reported here.
Additional reporting indicates the individual was a naturalized U.S. citizen. Melugin referenced that detail in a subsequent post, and related commentary has circulated on social media, including posts shown here and here.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) also addressed the reports in a post on X, writing: “I’ve heard from multiple sources that the Austin shooter wore a shirt saying ‘Property of Allah.’ — in addition to Quran in car, and naturalizing from Senegal just over a decade ago.” His remarks are available here.
Law enforcement officials have not publicly released additional details regarding motive. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
The nightclub attack left two victims dead and multiple others hospitalized. Police have not yet provided a comprehensive update on the condition of those injured or whether any additional factors contributed to the incident.
