The Trump Organization has signed an agreement to develop its first tower in Australia, a massive project valued at 1.5 billion Australian dollars (about $1.06 billion) that developers say will become the tallest building in the country.

The 91-story skyscraper is planned for the Gold Coast in Queensland, one of Australia’s most popular seaside destinations. The tower is set to feature a luxury six-star resort hotel, 270 high-end apartments, retail shops, a beach club, and a large swimming pool, according to local developer Altus Property Group.

Altus Property Group said the tower would be a major boost for tourism and the local economy, calling it a landmark development for Queensland and Australia. The company emphasized that the Trump brand would signal a top-tier, luxury standard for the project, even without globally known hotel brands like Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton attached.

The Trump Hotels website described the tower as a future iconic landmark that would redefine beachfront luxury, offering world-class amenities, striking architecture, and uninterrupted views of the Gold Coast.

Altus CEO David Young said he had been pursuing the project for nearly two decades, first pitching the idea to Ivanka Trump in 2007. He confirmed that the final agreement with the Trump Organization was signed at Mar-a-Lago on February 14 and that the project has entered the design, engineering, and construction planning phase.

Young added that the tower will be Australian-owned and built by Australian companies, while meeting the Trump Organization’s design standards. Apartment prices in the skyscraper are expected to start at around 5 million Australian dollars, highlighting the project’s focus on the luxury property market.
