A new national survey of Republican voters shows that media personalities Tucker Carlson, Joe Rogan, and the late Charlie Kirk rank among the most popular and influential voices within the Republican base, highlighting the growing power of independent media figures in shaping conservative political opinion.
The poll, conducted by Rich Barris of Big Data Poll and obtained by Breitbart News, found overwhelming favorability for these prominent commentators, with many Republican voters expressing strong recognition and support.
According to the survey, Charlie Kirk received the highest favorability rating among Republicans, with 74.7 percent saying they viewed him either “very favorably” or “somewhat favorably.” Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, built a large following among young conservatives before his death in September 2025. His continued popularity in the poll suggests that his influence remains significant even after his passing.
Joe Rogan, host of one of the world’s most widely listened-to podcasts, followed with a 62.4 percent favorability rating among Republican respondents.
Rogan’s long-form interview style and willingness to host political figures across the spectrum have helped him build a diverse audience, though his views on government power, media credibility, and foreign policy have resonated strongly with conservative listeners in recent years.
Meanwhile, Tucker Carlson, a longtime political commentator and former cable news host, earned a 52.1 percent favorability rating.
Carlson has maintained a strong presence through his independent media platforms and interviews, continuing to shape conservative political conversations outside traditional television networks.
Lower Recognition for Other Conservative Commentators
In contrast, several other right-leaning commentators received significantly lower favorability and recognition scores in the same poll.
Radio host Mark Levin had a favorability rating of 39.7 percent, but nearly half of respondents—44.8 percent—said they had either never heard of him or had no opinion.
Similarly, political activists Laura Loomer and Nick Fuentes struggled with name recognition. The poll found that 58.1 percent of Republicans were unfamiliar with Loomer, while 56.3 percent said the same about Fuentes, highlighting a gap between nationally recognized media figures and those with more niche audiences.
Rise of Independent Media and Populist Messaging
A Republican strategist familiar with the findings said the results reflect broader trends within the party.
“Surprise, surprise. A populist movement likes populist voices,” the strategist said. “The Republican Party today is largely aligned with the message and style of President Donald Trump, and voters are drawn to media figures who present themselves as independent, anti-establishment, and willing to challenge traditional institutions.”
Many of the top-rated personalities have built their audiences outside traditional party structures, relying on podcasts, social media, and direct-to-consumer platforms rather than legacy television networks.
Policy Views and Foreign Policy Influence
The poll also reflects divisions in foreign policy perspectives among conservative media figures. Carlson and Rogan, for example, have both expressed skepticism about prolonged military conflicts, including potential escalation involving Iran.
In contrast, Levin and Loomer have taken more aggressive stances, advocating for stronger confrontation with Iran’s government.
These differences mirror ongoing debates within Republican circles about America’s role abroad, particularly as diplomatic tensions and nuclear negotiations continue.
Lasting Influence Beyond Traditional Media
The results highlight how media influence within the Republican Party has increasingly shifted toward independent commentators with large digital audiences.
Charlie Kirk’s continued popularity even after his death underscores his lasting legacy among conservative voters, while Rogan and Carlson’s continued dominance reflects the growing importance of podcasts and alternative media in modern political communication.
Together, the poll suggests that Republican voters are increasingly looking beyond traditional political leaders and toward media figures who reflect their views, challenge mainstream narratives, and provide commentary aligned with the party’s evolving identity.
