Democrat Frazier endorsed in bid for 51 State Senate seat

KINGSTON – The Ulster County Democratic Committee has endorsed Michele Frazier to run for the 51st State Senate seat this fall.

Also nominated for the post was Ulster County Legislator Chris Hewitt. His nomination required a runoff vote by district Democratic delegates. In a weighted note, Frazier won by a seven-to-one margin.

“These are unprecedented times and individuals, families and farm and business owners throughout upstate New York and the 51st District, are struggling to find and afford healthcare and housing, in addition to relief from crushing tariffs, broken supply lines, soaring grocery prices, skyrocketing utility rates – and just about everything else,” Frazier said.

The 51st district includes all of Sullivan, Delaware, Schoharie and Otsego counties as well as parts of Ulster, Broome and Chenango counties.

Republican State Senator Peter Oberocker previously announced he would run for Congress in the 19th District.
