After a commanding 6–1, 6–4 victory over Tomáš Macháč, Jannik Sinner struck a composed and confident tone in his post-match press conference at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.

The Italian, who began his campaign in impressive fashion, emphasized that adapting to difficult weather conditions was key to his performance. Strong winds swept across the court throughout the evening session, forcing both players to adjust constantly.

Sinner, however, handled the elements with maturity and tactical awareness.

“It was a really good start,” he said. “It was very windy, very breezy, so it was very difficult. I’m very happy with how I served and also how I returned.”

The 24-year-old underlined the importance of preparation following a short break after the Australian swing. Rather than making drastic changes, Sinner relied on hard training and mental focus to transition back into competition mode.

“We practiced very hard, and now it’s time to enjoy the match,” he explained. “The hard work is basically done. Now we try to focus on every match, trying to have a good mentality and play the best possible tennis.”

A fast start proved decisive. Sinner stormed through the opening set 6–1, immediately establishing control and building confidence that carried into the second set. He noted how crucial early momentum can be in challenging conditions.

“In every match it’s important how you start,” he said. “Today I started very well, and that gave me the confidence to continue.”

Beyond the scoreline, Sinner was particularly pleased with his ability to vary his serve and adjust shot selection depending on the wind direction — small tactical details that made a significant difference.

Looking ahead, he remains aware that tougher tests await as the tournament progresses.

“Every day is going to be more and more challenging,” Sinner acknowledged. “Tomorrow I have one day off, which I will use to practice and recover. Hopefully I’m ready for the next one.”

With a composed mindset and his game already firing efficiently, Sinner’s Doha campaign is off to a confident and professional start.
