LEOMINSTER — Sue Driscoll said the recent fundraiser held in honor of her late wife Lorna Moody “was a big success” and plans to make it an annual affair.
The Moody’s Lucky Ducks Trivia Night held on Jan. 29 at the Leominster Elks drew 150 people who enjoyed playing as teams. Fitchburg resident Matt Majikas of Central Mass Productions was the trivia game DJ and $4,670 was raised for the Lorna Moody Scholarship Fund, which was named after and founded in memory of the beloved longtime Fall Brook Elementary School PE teacher who passed away two years ago.

The money awarded through Moody’s scholarship fund goes to Leominster High School seniors who plan to attend college and part of the money raised through the trivia night event will go to Dr. Joyce Liu’s ovarian cancer research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Moody’s doctor.
Many of the attendees wore purple, Moody’s favorite color, and besides flexing their brain muscles, the trivia participants also noshed on a delicious spread food donated by GazBar Sports Grill, Paisanos Pizza & Spirits, Simply Sweet by Christine, and Zoppo’s Catering, all Leominster based businesses.
“Erica Grinkis and Sam Ortiz were extremely helpful in putting this event together,” Driscoll said of the GazBar owner and general manager, who were on hand that night pitching in. “Grateful for their support and help.”

She went on to say that she is “extremely thankful for the continued support in assisting with the goal of raising money “for the scholarship fund and cancer research.
“The reason I continue to raise money for Dana Farber is to continue their research in ovarian cancer and help find a cure someday, if not a vaccine, and to bring awareness to ovarian cancer,” Driscoll shared.
She also remains dedicated to her fundraising efforts as a way to keep her late wife’s “memory alive” and to help “those children who want to continue their education.”
Driscoll reported that the date is set for the third annual Moody’s Lucky Ducks Golf Tournament at Monoosnock Country Club in Leominster on Sept. 27. If you’re not a golfer, you’re welcome to join them at the fundraiser for the buffet dinner and auction and for more information and to register email Sue Driscoll at [email protected].
