Russia stated that a US-made High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) was struck by an Iskander-M ballistic missile in Ukraine’s Kharkov region, as fighting between Moscow and Kyiv continues.
The claim was announced by Russia’s Ministry of Defense on Monday (February 3, 2026), which also released drone footage purporting to show the strike. According to the ministry, the attack killed up to 10 Ukrainian soldiers.
In a statement carried by RT, the Russian military said Ukrainian forces have repeatedly used HIMARS systems to fire missiles into Russian territory since the conflict escalated in 2022, targeting infrastructure and residential areas and causing civilian casualties.
AFP reported similar developments, adding that Russian forces also carried out strikes in the Sumy region. The agency said total casualties across multiple areas in Ukraine reached around 250.
The Russian Defense Ministry further claimed that Ukrainian forces suffered additional losses in the Kharkov region and in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), including at least one tank, five armored vehicles, two artillery systems, dozens of vehicles, and more than 300 personnel.
Separately, Russia said its troops destroyed a Soviet-era Grad multiple launch rocket system, an artillery gun, and a logistics depot in the Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk regions, estimating Ukrainian casualties in those areas at around 320 soldiers.
Ukraine has not independently confirmed the claims.
