Course

Championship Course Investment & Player Experience

  • A targeted investment programme has focused on improving both playability and presentation for elite tournament golf. This includes several new and upgraded tee complexes across the course (notably holes 1, 6, 8, 13 and 15), allowing greater flexibility in set-up while enhancing turf quality and visual definition.

Agronomy Detail & Tournament Preparation

  • Increased cutting frequencies, refined rolling and grooming practices, and the implementation of tailored foliar nutrition programmes to ensure firm, true playing surfaces. A strong focus has also been placed on uniformity across greens, tees and fairways to present a cohesive championship product on broadcast.

Hole-in-One

  • The first player to achieve a hole-in-one on hole 17 during Tournament Rounds 1-4 only, will receive QX-80 Infinity car.

Course Record presented by Nexo

  • Nexo, the premier digital assets wealth platform, and the DP World Tour have expanded their partnership with the introduction of the Course Record Presented by Nexo – launched in 2025
  • The base prize starts at US$10,000 and will be awarded to the player who sets a course record that continues to stand at the close of the competition. If the course record is tied, the prize is awarded to the first player to set the record
  • If no course record is shot that week, the money will roll over to the next tournament with a further $10,000 added to the pot. After a successful course record, the prize pot will then reset
  • No new course record was set at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship therefore the money rolls over to the Qatar Masters, where the prize pot now stands at $80,000.
  • Adam Scott holds the long-standing course record, an 11-under par 61 which he carded during his final round in 2008. His round secured his second victory in this event after his 2002 triumph.

Golf for Good

Sustainability & Climate-Appropriate Turf Management

  • Operating in a desert environment, sustainability is a core part of how Doha Golf Club manage the course. They utilise warm season turfgrasses selected specifically for heat tolerance, reduced water demand and long-term durability. Their irrigation practices are closely monitored and data-driven, ensuring water is applied efficiently and only where required, while ongoing soil health programmes help minimise inputs without compromising performance.

People, Planning & Long-Term Vision

  • A key story behind the course is the commitment of the agronomy team and the long-term planning approach taken by Doha Golf Club. Preparation for the Qatar Masters is part of a wider strategy rather than a short-term push, ensuring the course continues to improve year-on-year for both tour professionals and members. Looking ahead, they have further investment planned, including the introduction of a new golf cart fleet and continued machinery upgrades to support efficiency and sustainability.

Balls for Birdies

  • DP World’s Balls for Birdies initiative returns in 2026, donating golf balls to grassroots golf initiatives around the world to promote the game and make it more accessible
  • They will deliver the total of balls to selected beneficiaries at the end of the 2025 Race to Dubai using their global logistics network. Balls will be donated as a direct result of DP World Tour members’ performances on the golf course, with one ball donated for each birdie, two balls for each eagle and 100 balls for an albatross.

2026 Race to Dubai

  • The DP World Tour’s 2026 global schedule features a minimum of 42 tournaments in 25 different countries across three distinct phases of the season: five ‘Global Swings’ from November 2025 to August 2026; the ‘Back 9’ from August 2026 to October 2026; and the ‘DP World Tour Play-Offs’, comprising two consecutive Rolex Series events in November 2026
  • The Global Swings comprise of five individual Swings, the Opening Swing, International Swing, Asian Swing, European Swing and Closing Swing
  • Each Swing will have its own identity and the top-performing player from each swing will earn US$200,000 from an overall $1,000,000 bonus pool. Swing Champions will also qualify for each event on the Back 9
  • At the conclusion of the Global Swings, a further $1,000,000 bonus pool will then be shared amongst the leading ten players on the Race to Dubai (who have played a minimum of eight ‘regular’ events outside the Majors and Genesis Scottish Open)
  • The Swings also offer qualification into the first three Rolex Series events. The leading member (not otherwise exempt) from the Opening Swing qualifies for the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, from the International Swing, Asian Swing and European Swing they qualify for the Genesis Scottish Open and from the Closing Swing the BMW PGA Championship
  • Overall, the 2026 season features five Rolex Series events – the premium category of events on the DP World Tour – and four Major Championships, all of which count towards the Race to Dubai Rankings, the Tour’s season-long competition which concludes at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai
  • DP World, the leading provider of global smart end-to-end supply chain and logistics solutions, has been the title partner of the DP World Tour since the start of the 2022 season, the Tour’s 50th season following its formation in 1972.

Global Amateur Pathway

The DP World Tour, The R&A and the PGA TOUR have launched the Global Amateur Pathway – powered by the World Amateur Golf Ranking® – to help the very best male amateur players take the next step in their careers.

The landmark initiative has created a pathway for non-collegiate amateur players on to the DP World Tour and partner Tours around the world. The Global Amateur Pathway complements PGA TOUR University – which awards membership on PGA TOUR-sanctioned Tours to the top Division-I college golfers at the end of the NCAA Championship – to ensure opportunities are available for elite players across the amateur ranks.

The second Global Amateur Pathway Ranking Period concluded on 16 October 2025 with Scotland’s Cameron Adam topping the Rankings to earn a DP World Tour exemption for the 2026 season, following inaugural winner Wenyi Ding of China.
