Viewership for the Grammy Awards fell significantly this year, with the largest declines recorded among younger audiences, according to audience data reported by FOX News.

CBS’s broadcast of the 68th Grammy Awards averaged 14 million total viewers, representing an 11 percent drop from the previous year and a 20 percent decline compared with 2024. The network aired the ceremony in what is expected to be its final year hosting the event after more than five decades.

Losses were seen across nearly every major demographic. Among adults aged 25 to 54, a group highly valued by advertisers, the broadcast averaged 5 million viewers, down from 5.7 million last year, a decline of 13 percent. Viewership among adults ages 18 to 49 dropped 19 percent, while audiences aged 55 and older fell by 10 percent.

The most pronounced decrease occurred among younger viewers. The Grammys averaged 2 million viewers ages 18 to 34, down from 2.4 million the previous year, a 20 percent decline, according to the FOX News report.

The broadcast took place amid a politically charged ceremony in which several performers and attendees used the event to criticize the Trump administration and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The 2026 show featured multiple artists wearing “ICE OUT” pins, including Billie Eilish, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Kehlani, Joni Mitchell, Carole King and Brandi Carlile, according to the report.

The Grammy Awards are scheduled to move to Disney-owned networks and streaming platforms in 2027, ending a 54-year run on CBS.

The ratings decline prompted widespread commentary on social media. Radio host Jimmy Failla wrote in a post on X that ratings were down because viewers “don’t care what celebrities think about politics,” in a comment shared publicly on Feb. 3, 2026.

Commentator Ian Miller also reacted to the ratings figures, stating in a separate post that the Grammys lost roughly one million viewers year over year despite rising ratings for other programming, a remark posted on the same day.

CBS has not publicly commented on the audience decline.
