Journalist James O’Keefe said his investigative team went undercover inside recent anti-ICE protests in Minnesota and obtained hidden-camera admissions from leftist agitators about the groups funding and organizing the demonstrations.

According to O’Keefe, members of his team embedded themselves among protesters and were surrounded while activists openly discussed their affiliations and support networks. O’Keefe said those groups included a range of nongovernmental organizations, unions, and socialist activist organizations.

“Our team went undercover inside the mob and was surrounded as agitators admitted what groups they worked with on hidden cameras,” O’Keefe said. “An entire network of NGOs, unions, and activist groups including ‘SEIU,’ ‘Make the Road New York,’ and the ‘Independent Socialist Group’ are all behind this chaos.”

O’Keefe said the situation escalated after protesters became suspicious of his team’s presence.

“We were accused of being ‘feds,’ chased, teargassed, hit, and forced to retreat when our team was being attacked and threatened,” he said. “We received death threats via text messages and were followed to each location we were at.”

According to O’Keefe, the protest area functioned as an autonomous zone with no visible law enforcement presence. He said members of the press were questioned about their identities and that individuals not aligned with the protesters quickly became targets.

“The autonomous zone we were in had zero police present, press were interrogated about their identity, and anyone who was not on their side became a target,” O’Keefe said.

During the undercover operation, O’Keefe said one protester, identified as Peggy Wang, openly described her organization’s role in opposing federal immigration enforcement.

“We’re [Independent Socialist Group] an international organization fighting ICE,” the protester said on camera, according to O’Keefe.

O’Keefe said his investigation pointed to a network of nonprofits and advocacy organizations providing financial and logistical support for the protests. He cited “Make The Road New York” as one example, stating that the nonprofit has received $16 million in government grants.

At one point, O’Keefe said his team was confronted directly by agitators who accused them of being federal agents.

“Not press! Not press! That’s a f*cking Fed!” protesters shouted, according to O’Keefe.

He said projectiles were thrown at his team, forcing them to retreat from the area. O’Keefe also claimed that protesters had placed spotters in the hotel where his team was staying, allowing activists to track their movements.

“It’s all about greed, money, and power,” O’Keefe said.

O’Keefe shared footage and a summary of the undercover operation in a post on X, stating that his team uncovered admissions from protesters about who was funding and coordinating the demonstrations, while also documenting the threats and violence his group faced during the operation. The footage was shared in a post by James O’Keefe on January 27, 2026.
