Washington, D.C. –  Leaders of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus praised President Donald Trump for what they described as major pro-life policy actions taken by his administration, marking the 53rd anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision.

The caucus’s co-chairs—Reps. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), Andy Harris (R-Md.), Michelle Fischbach (R-Minn.), Kat Cammack (R-Fla.), and Bob Onder (R-Mo.)—issued a joint statement commending the Trump administration for policies aimed at restricting federal funding related to abortion, both domestically and internationally.

According to the lawmakers, the Trump administration acted to ensure that taxpayer funds were not used to support the abortion industry or to finance research involving tissue from aborted fetuses. They also highlighted efforts to promote alternative research methods to human embryonic stem cells.

The statement further cited actions taken to protect conscience rights for healthcare providers and patients who object to abortion on moral or religious grounds.

“We thank President Trump for his pro-life leadership and look forward to continuing to work with his administration during the second session of the 119th Congress to provide unborn children, their mothers, and their families with the support and protection they deserve,” the lawmakers said.
