Once again, the corporate media has been caught red-handed lying to the American people—and this time they used a 5-year-old child to do it.

This week, ABC News pushed a story claiming a young boy was “detained by ICE,” setting off predictable outrage and emotional manipulation. Social media exploded. Headlines screamed cruelty. The narrative was clear: ICE bad, America heartless, borders don’t matter.

Except it wasn’t true. Not even close.

What actually happened is this: the child was abandoned, not detained. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement encountered the boy after he had been left alone. Instead of some cartoonish villain behavior the media loves to imagine, agents rescued him, took him to McDonald’s, and brought him to a warm, safe facility in Texas where he could be properly cared for.

That’s not detention. That’s basic human decency.

But decency doesn’t fit the agenda.

ABC didn’t “misspeak.” They didn’t get confused. They chose language designed to inflame, distort, and mislead—because fear and outrage drive clicks, and truth gets in the way. Calling a rescue a “detention” isn’t journalism. It’s propaganda.

And let’s be honest about the damage this kind of lie causes. It puts targets on the backs of law enforcement officers. It fuels public hysteria. And it exploits children as political props while pretending to care about them.

Now ABC is facing mass calls to be sued, and frankly, they should be. Media outlets are not immune from accountability just because they slap the word “news” on their logo. If a private citizen lied this blatantly and caused harm, there would be consequences. Corporate media should not get a free pass.

This is exactly why so many Americans no longer trust legacy media. They don’t report facts—they shape narratives. They don’t correct the record—they double down or quietly move on once the lie has done its job.

The truth is simple: a child was abandoned, ICE stepped in, and the child was cared for. That should have been the story.

But ABC chose deception instead.

And the American people are done letting them get away with it.
