For years, sanctuary city politicians lectured America about compassion, defied federal law, and mocked anyone who warned that their policies would lead to disorder. They promised safety. They promised harmony. They promised that ignoring immigration law would somehow make cities stronger.

Now those same cities are on fire — and suddenly the crying starts.

When riots erupt, businesses are destroyed, police are attacked, and neighborhoods descend into chaos, sanctuary city leaders rush to the microphones demanding “help,” “resources,” and “federal intervention.” The irony is staggering. These are the very officials who spent years undermining law enforcement, obstructing federal agencies, and branding border security as “racist” or “extreme.”

You don’t get to sabotage the rule of law and then act shocked when lawlessness shows up at your door.

Sanctuary policies didn’t happen by accident. They were deliberate political choices. Leaders chose ideology over enforcement. They chose virtue signaling over public safety. They chose to protect criminals over citizens — and they did it proudly. Anyone who questioned it was smeared, silenced, or dismissed as hateful.

Now the consequences are impossible to hide.

Police departments in sanctuary cities are overwhelmed and understaffed. Officers are told to stand down while mobs run wild. Prosecutors refuse to charge repeat offenders. Mayors issue press releases instead of restoring order. And when the violence escalates beyond their control, the same leaders who tied law enforcement’s hands cry foul and demand the very authority they spent years dismantling.

This isn’t compassion. It’s cowardice.

The media, of course, plays its part. Riots are rebranded as “mostly peaceful.” Criminal behavior is excused as “frustration.” The victims — small business owners, families trapped in violent neighborhoods, law-abiding citizens — barely get a mention. Accountability is nowhere to be found.

And let’s be clear: this isn’t about immigration. America is a nation of immigrants. This is about law, order, and responsibility. A country without borders is not a country. A city without consequences is not safe. And leadership without accountability is not leadership at all.

Sanctuary city politicians created this mess. They fueled it with reckless rhetoric and policies rooted in politics, not reality. Now that the chaos is undeniable, they want sympathy.

They don’t deserve sympathy.
They deserve accountability.

The American people are done paying the price for failed experiments pushed by elites who never live with the consequences. If leaders refuse to enforce the law, they should not be surprised when the streets stop obeying it.

This is what happens when ideology replaces common sense — and the bill always comes due.
