Journalist Lara Logan this week conducted an extended interview with former Venezuelan embassy employee and Latin American political analyst Martin Rodil, during which the two discussed Venezuela’s political history, its cartel-linked power structure, relationships with foreign adversaries of the United States, alleged ties to election interference, and claims surrounding actions taken by the Trump administration involving Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.
During the discussion, Logan asserted that Venezuela possesses the capability to influence electoral outcomes far beyond its borders, stating that the country has the ability to determine “the outcomes of elections in more than 70 countries in the world,” including the United States. She said the alleged reach of Venezuelan influence extends across all levels of American governance.
“So whether it’s control of the House, control of the Senate, not just control of the White House, they’re installing people that they want to see in those positions, not necessarily the people the American people have chosen, because they’re able to affect the outcomes of our elections on every single level,” Logan said, according to remarks shared in a social media clip.
Logan further described what she characterized as deep international alignments involving Venezuela’s leadership, saying the country is partnered with multiple U.S. adversaries. She cited relationships with China, North Korea, and Iran as part of a broader geopolitical network tied to Caracas.
Logan alleged that Venezuela’s leadership operates as a cartel-driven state capable of exerting influence within the U.S. government itself. “They’re able to buy off American officials, infiltrate the government, from the National Security Council to the White House, completely infiltrated, run it by Cuban intelligence, one of the most sophisticated intelligence operations, organizations worldwide,” she said, referring to what she described as the role of Cuban intelligence in coordinating Venezuelan activities.
Rodil, presented in the interview as a former embassy worker and regional expert, discussed Venezuela’s internal military and cartel structures and their historical development, placing current claims within a broader framework of Latin American political dynamics and transnational criminal networks.
The interview also addressed assertions related to actions taken during the administration of Donald Trump, including claims about the capture or detention of Maduro, though no additional documentary evidence was introduced during the discussion beyond Rodil’s analysis and Logan’s commentary.
The full interview between Logan and Rodil was made available through a separate video post, where Rodil elaborated on his claims regarding Venezuela’s global reach and internal power dynamics.
The statements made during the interview reflect the views and allegations of Logan and Rodil and were presented as part of a broader discussion on international influence, election security, and geopolitical conflict involving Venezuela and the United States.
