The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who fatally shot leftist activist Renee Good during a lawful immigration operation in Minneapolis last week suffered internal bleeding to his torso after Good allegedly attempted to run him over with her vehicle, according to federal officials briefed on the incident.

Good was shot and killed after investigators say she used her SUV as a weapon while ICE agents were conducting an enforcement operation in a Minneapolis neighborhood. President Donald Trump and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem previously confirmed that the agent involved was transported to a local hospital following the encounter and treated for his injuries.

President Trump said he personally reviewed video of the incident and described the encounter as a clear case of self-defense. In a statement posted on Truth Social last week, Trump said the footage showed “a horrible thing to watch,” adding that the woman who was screaming at the scene appeared to be “a professional agitator,” while the driver was “very disorderly, obstructing and resisting,” before she “violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense,” according to his statement.

Trump said that, based on the video, it was difficult to believe the agent survived the encounter and noted that he was recovering in the hospital. He added that the incident was under full review, but said such confrontations are occurring because “the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis.”

According to a report by CBS News, the agent involved, identified as Jonathan Ross, suffered internal bleeding to his torso, citing two U.S. officials familiar with his medical condition. The extent of the bleeding was not immediately clear. CBS News reported that it reached out to the Department of Homeland Security for additional details but had not received a response at the time of publication.

Video footage from the scene showed Ross walking away after the shooting. Noem previously confirmed that Ross was taken to the hospital and released the same day. She said he was recovering and described him as an experienced law enforcement officer who believed he was acting to defend himself and other agents.

Last Friday, point-of-view cellphone footage from the ICE agent involved in the shooting was released. The video shows Good’s romantic partner verbally taunting the agent as he approached the SUV driven by Good.

“You wanna come at us?” the partner is heard saying. “I say go get yourself some lunch big boy.”

As the agent attempted to open the vehicle door, he is heard shouting, “Get out of the f*cking car!” Moments later, Good accelerated the vehicle while her partner yelled, “Drive, baby! Drive!”

The agent then shouted “Whoa!” before firing the fatal shot, according to the footage.

The incident remains under investigation as federal authorities review the circumstances surrounding the use of force and the injuries sustained by the ICE agent during the encounter.
