We have not entered an unprecedented time of governance, but rather, one that has been rediscovered due to technological advancements. Throughout the history of humankind, Authoritarian ideals have interlaced throughout, creating disastrous effects:
☠️mass death and genocide
☠️mass starvation
☠️mass restrictions of social media and life in general
Authoritarians CRAVE and operate in absence of knowledge, silence and suppression. Once installed and they have amassed power through these means, they become unstoppable, untouchable.
Or so they think.
My present day self has been forged at the hands of abusers, by those who control with unguidelined impunity, my ethical lust for knowledge, ten years as a Buddhist monk driving the vehicle of the Mahayana Path-selfless service unto others, and the multidimensional processing power of a Neurodivergent mind.
It is with these implements that I produce my own blend of philosophy in an effort to help others, an example, of which, follows. The ethics of Buddhism and actual journalism can utilize elements of Machiavelli and Sun Tzu. This by no means states that they are unethical. Different times must consider different understandings.
For those encountering obtuse people in power—and other elements of humanity inclined toward authoritarianism—I humbly offer the following ethical plan of engagement:
This framework rejects cruelty, personal vendetta, and spectacle. It is grounded instead in restraint, accuracy, and discipline. Its purpose is not to defeat individuals, but to make misconduct, abuse of authority, and suppression of truth structurally unsustainable.
The engagement principles are simple:
- Fight only on terrain defined by law, process, records, and timelines.
- Release truth through documentation, not argument.
- Maintain a calm, professional tone that denies opponents emotional leverage.
- Never speculate, personalize, or exaggerate—facts are sufficient.
- Apply pressure indirectly, through accountability mechanisms, not confrontation.
- Allow overreach, contradiction, and suppression to reveal themselves naturally.
- When decisive action is required, act cleanly, proportionally, and without theatrics—then withdraw.
This approach is ethical because it is restrained.
It is effective because it is patient.
And it is resilient because it depends on evidence, not outrage.
The objective is not victory over others.
The objective is the preservation of truth, accountability, and lawful governance—without becoming what we oppose.
MachTzuian Rules of Engagement
RULE 1 — Never Fight on Their Chosen Terrain
If the engagement is:
❌emotional
❌speculative
❌personal
❌ideological
👉 You disengage.
You fight only on:
✅law
✅process
✅records
✅timelines
✅contradictions
If it can’t be footnoted, it doesn’t exist.
RULE 2 — Truth Is Released, Not Argued
❌You do not debate facts.
✅You publish them.
❌Arguments invite opinion.
✅Documents end conversations.
RULE 3 — Tone Is a Weapon
Your tone must be:
✅calm
✅professional
✅procedural
✅almost boring
Let them sound defensive, hostile, or panicked.
If your writing feels satisfying, it’s probably too hot. Cool it.
RULE 4 — Never Speculate — Ever
You do not:
❌guess motives
❌infer intent
❌predict outcomes
You describe what happened, when, by whom, and under what rule.
Speculation creates attack surface.
Facts create choke points.
RULE 5 — One Release = One Purpose
Every action must answer one question:
What capability does this remove from them?
If it does not:
✅raise cost
✅reduce credibility
✅expose inconsistency
✅force compliance
…it waits.
RULE 6 — Pressure Is Applied Indirectly
You do not confront power unless absolutely necessary.
You stress its weak joints:
- FOIA compliance
- record retention
- delegation authority
- procedural deadlines
Institutions collapse sideways, not head-on and Authoritarians do not concern themselves with maintaining the aforementioned.
RULE 7 — Never Interrupt an Opponent Making a Mistake
If they are:
- overreacting
- suppressing records
- contradicting themselves
- escalating improperly
👉 You document and wait.
Silence is sometimes the sharpest blade.
RULE 8 — Strike Clean, Then Withdraw
When a decisive release is made:
❌no follow-up insults
❌no victory laps
❌no escalation bait
You disappear and let uncertainty rot their morale.
RULE 9 — Visibility Without Noise
You do not chase attention. You make yourself discoverable.
Let:
- journalists
- auditors
- attorneys
- regulators
find a clean, undeniable trail.
Credibility compounds quietly and deliberately.
RULE 10 — You Are the Standard, Not the Hero
You do not seek:
❌praise
❌sympathy
❌validation
Your role is to become:
✅cited
✅referenced
✅unavoidable
When the system changes, your name should already be in the footnotes.
The footnotes of history are where most effective rebuttals live.
Authoritarians don’t read those.
RULE 11 — No Personal Hatred
Hatred clouds timing. Timing is everything.
You are not punishing people.
You are removing permissions.
RULE 12 — If in Doubt, Slow Down
Speed favors the reckless. Time favors the prepared.
Delay is not weakness. Delay is control.
The MachTzuian Oath:
“I do not fight to be right.
I fight to make wrongdoing unsustainable.”
