National protests are being planned in response to the fatal shooting of Renee Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis, according to organizers and reporting from Reuters, with demonstrations expected across the country as early as this weekend.

Civil-liberties and migrant-rights groups said more than 1,000 protests are expected nationwide after Good, 37, was shot and killed Wednesday in a residential neighborhood of south Minneapolis during an immigration enforcement operation. Organizers said the demonstrations will call for “an end to large-scale deployments of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents ordered by President Donald Trump, mostly to cities led by Democratic politicians,” Reuters reported.

The protests are set to rally under the banner “ICE out for good” and are being organized by a coalition that includes the American Civil Liberties Union, MoveOn Civic Action, Voto Latino, and Indivisible. Several of the same groups helped organize the “No Kings” protests against Trump last year.

According to Reuters, more than 2,000 agents from the Department of Homeland Security have been deployed to Minneapolis in what DHS has described as the “largest DHS operation ever.”

Good was shot after blocking a roadway with her SUV while ICE agents were conducting enforcement activity. Authorities said she was asked to move her vehicle and attempted to drive away, striking an ICE officer, who then fired his weapon. Good was pronounced dead at the scene.

Good was reported to have been acting as a “legal observer” documenting immigration enforcement activity at the time of the incident. Video footage from the scene shows her wife, Becca Good, present during the encounter. In the footage, Becca Good can be heard taunting ICE officers as they attempted to clear the roadway.

yourNEWS reported earlier that Becca Good is affiliated with a group known as “ICE Watch” and attended a training session two days before the shooting that included instruction on how to obstruct ICE agents during enforcement operations. Becca Good has since expressed remorse for her role in encouraging her wife’s actions.

President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance both defended the shooting as an act of self-defense, describing it as a “tragedy of [Good’s] own making.”

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the ICE officer involved had previously been struck and dragged by a vehicle driven by an illegal alien attempting to flee apprehension in a separate incident. Noem said the officer suffered serious injuries and required hospitalization, adding context to the officer’s response during Wednesday’s encounter.

Good’s death has already sparked unrest in Minneapolis. Reuters reported that angry demonstrations erupted across the city, including a protest late Friday night outside a hotel believed to be housing ICE agents.

State police wearing riot gear declared an unlawful assembly after protesters staged what was described as a “noise protest” outside the hotel.

“Video posted by activists on social media showed protesters, some wearing brightly colored inflatable costumes, creating a din by beating on drums, banging pots and pans, yelling through bullhorns and blowing on brass instruments and whistles,” Reuters reported. “Others directed high-power flashlight beams at the hotel’s windows.”

Organizers said additional demonstrations are planned in cities nationwide as the shooting continues to fuel debate over federal immigration enforcement and the Trump administration’s expanded ICE deployments.
