Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has publicly addressed his future plans for the first time since exiting the Federal Bureau of Investigation less than a year into the role, resurfacing with a series of statements posted on X that marked a return to his public-facing political and media persona.

Bongino, a former New York Police Department officer and U.S. Secret Service agent who later became a prominent conservative podcaster and commentator, posted his initial message only hours before it began circulating widely online. In the statement, he acknowledged his absence, thanked supporters, and said he was stepping back briefly to spend time with his family while preparing upcoming announcements.

“Good to see you all. I missed you,” Bongino wrote in his first post on X. “Thanks for everything while we worked on cleaning up. Working in the administration was the experience of a lifetime. I’ll have some announcements coming up, but I’m taking a couple of days to spend with the family.”

He also addressed questions surrounding the return of his podcast, telling followers that details would be shared soon. Bongino praised President Donald Trump and his team, describing his time inside the administration as markedly different from previous experiences around presidential politics.

“The Trump team is not kidding around. It’s an otherworldly experience from the other side,” Bongino wrote. “He’s determined and focused. And having been around quite a few Presidents, this one broke the mold.”

In the same post, Bongino took aim at critics he characterized as divisive voices within conservative circles, explaining his social media blocking practices and dismissing what he described as attempts to sow internal conflict. He concluded the message by thanking supporters and signing off with a flaming Elmo emoji.

Bongino followed up with a second, lengthier post later the same day, clarifying his position and expanding on his views about the direction of the conservative movement. In that message, also shared on X, he emphasized his long-standing involvement dating back to the Tea Party era and rejected what he described as efforts by “black-pillers” and opportunists to redirect or fracture the movement.

“I started in this movement as a candidate during the Tea Party movement, and I began my political commentary career shortly thereafter,” Bongino wrote. “I helped build this movement, and I sure as hell am not going to let it get hijacked by a group of black-pillers, life-losers, grifters, and bums.”

He said he had remained publicly quiet while carrying out his duties inside the FBI but indicated that period had ended. “I’ve watched quietly from the inside while doing the job I was hired to do, but I’m back now, and it’s time to restore balance to the force,” he wrote.

Bongino also referenced the upcoming midterm elections, urging supporters to focus on results rather than internal disputes. “We’ve got midterms coming up, and there’s no time for bullshit,” he wrote, adding that criticism he views as destructive would not be tolerated. He described what he called “outfighting” rather than infighting, framing it as the removal of harmful elements rather than internal disagreement.

Shortly after publishing the second statement, Bongino shared an AI-generated video depicting him as a stylized, hard-edged law enforcement figure. The video was originally posted by another account and reshared by Bongino following its circulation on X, where it was captioned “Dan Superfly Bongino!” in a post dated January 5, 2026.

Bongino did not specify the nature of his forthcoming announcements but indicated that details about the future of his show and next steps would be released soon, signaling a return to a more active public role following his brief tenure inside the federal government.
