During Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s visit to Mar-a-Lago, President Trump, in a joint press conference with Netanyahu, signaled that if Hamas does not disarm on time, it will be bad for Hamas.
However, even though the ceasefire agreement has been implemented, Hamas has not yet disarmed.
Trump also mentioned that the time for disarming is short and it should be done quickly. “If they do not do it, it will be horrible, horrible for them, very bad — they have to do it. They made an agreement for that.”
According to the IDF on Saturday (Jan. 3, 2026), it struck a Hamas shaft containing a rocket launcher that was loaded and ready to be launched toward the city of Sderot in southern Israel. Israel described this as a “blatant violation” of the ceasefire agreement. Prior to the strike, Israel took necessary steps to mitigate any harm to civilians.
“The rocket launcher that was struck was used and equipped by Hamas after the ceasefire agreement had come into effect, a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement,” the IDF said. “Prior to the strike, steps were taken to mitigate harm to civilians.”
Amid Iran’s continuous support for Hamas, Netanyahu encouraged the people of Iran to take their fate into their own hands.
“The government of Israel, the State of Israel, and my own policies — we identify with the struggle of the Iranian people, with their aspirations for freedom, liberty and justice,” Netanyahu said. “It is quite possible that we are at a moment when the Iranian people are taking their fate into their own hands.”
Since the early 1990s, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been a key patron of Hamas, providing military aid, training, funds, and weapons.
