Amid Christmas celebrations across India, some disturbing incidents hit the festive spirit, sparking controversy.

Video surfaced on social media showing a group of people vandalizing Christmas decorations, breaking Santa Clause’s statue in Raipur.

The opposition Congress party accused the ruling BJP behind this vandalism.

“This video shows right-wing goons vandalising Christmas decorations in Raipur. It exposes the true face of the BJP government. This is not an isolated incident. Across India, people are being targeted and terrorised simply for celebrating Christmas. From Jabalpur and Delhi to Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Odisha and Uttarakhand, and in many other places, we are witnessing an organised targeting of minority communities,” said Congress on his official X page.

“Such incidents raise serious concerns about the state of our nation, which has always been defined by its strength in unity and diversity. PM Modi, these incidents are a direct reflection of your ideology. The world is watching the targeting of minorities in India,” the post added. “We will not remain silent. We stand firmly with our brothers and sisters in every community against hatred and violence.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi attended Christmas prayers in New Delhi.

“May Christmas bring renewed hope, warmth and a shared commitment to kindness. Attended the Christmas morning service at The Cathedral Church of the Redemption in Delhi. The service reflected the timeless message of love, peace and compassion. May the spirit of Christmas inspire harmony and goodwill in our society,” said Modi.

Amid such disturbances and noise on social media, the Christmas season’s celebrations have been felt all over India.
