Sophie Geraci spent months preparing herself for another big baby. Doctors warned her to expect it. Growth scans confirmed it. Even her own birth history seemed to guarantee it. But when her third child was finally born, Sophie’s expectations vanished in an instant — replaced by awe, shock and a moment she says she’ll never forget.

“I instantly knew she was tiny,” Sophie told The Bright Story in an interview. “I looked at my husband and said, ‘Holy shit, she’s so tiny… and she has so much hair!’”

“She ended up being nowhere near the size we were expecting, and the surprise was honestly overwhelming in the sweetest way,” she added.

It was the opposite of what everyone had prepared for.

A Pregnancy That Pointed in One Clear Direction

Sophie, 26, is a lifestyle and family content creator who lives in Florida with her husband, Maksimilian Geraci, 27, and their three children. Their older two — Leonardo, 3, and Rosalie, nearly 2 — were both born on the larger side.

“From the very beginning, my doctors and I were prepared for another big baby,” Sophie said. “Both of my older kids were in the 80th percentile or higher, and my doctor explained that babies often get bigger the more you have.”

Every growth scan during her pregnancy with her third child reinforced that expectation. Sophie said Anastazja consistently measured ahead of schedule, and the final scan before delivery estimated the baby would weigh nearly 8 pounds — even though Sophie was still four weeks from her due date.

“So we were fully expecting another large baby,” she said.

An Early Delivery — and an Unforgettable Reveal

Because of complications late in her pregnancy, Sophie delivered Anastazja early via C-section on July 21, 2025. What happened next caught everyone in the room completely off guard.

“The second my doctor held her up — literally like Simba — I instantly knew she was tiny,” Sophie recalled.

Reflecting on the moment later, she also told People, “I remember lying on the table, and my jaw literally dropped.”

Her husband’s reaction mirrored her own.

“Total shock, wide eyes, and tears immediately filling up,” Sophie said. “We were both emotional because the entire pregnancy pointed to a big baby, and instead we got this tiny little girl.”

The surprise extended to their families, who had followed the pregnancy closely and heard the scan estimates.

“But the reaction was all excitement and relief,” Sophie said. “Lots of happy tears, lots of ‘I can’t believe she’s so tiny!’ and just a ton of love from every direction.”

A Baby Who Fits Perfectly

Now 4 months old, Anastazja is thriving — and already deeply adored by her big brother and sister.

“She’s healthy, growing perfectly, and she fits right into our little crew,” Sophie said. “Her older siblings absolutely adore her — they’re gentle, obsessed, and love helping with her.”

Looking back, Sophie says the experience shifted more than just her expectations about birth weight. It reshaped how she views fear, motherhood and trust.

“When I found out I was pregnant with her, I was honestly really scared,” she said. “I got pregnant sooner than I expected, and I thought adding a third baby was going to be incredibly hard.”

Instead, the transition surprised her — in the best way.

“This has actually been my easiest transition yet,” Sophie said. “It taught me that the fear you feel during pregnancy doesn’t always reflect the reality that’s waiting for you.”

A Message for Other Moms

As she settles into life as a mother of three, Sophie hopes her story offers comfort to others who may feel overwhelmed or uncertain.

“Give yourself grace — you don’t need to have everything figured out,” she said. “Don’t let fear steal the joy from your pregnancy.”

She added, “Each baby brings their own kind of magic, and somehow your heart always expands to fit them. You’re stronger and more capable than you think, and things often work out more beautifully than you expect.”

For Sophie, the baby she thought would be “giant” arrived tiny — but the wonder she brought with her has been anything but.
