A Russian General Lt Gen Fanil Sarvarov was killed in a car bomb blast on Monday in Moscow.

Sarvarov, who was engaged in the operational training department, fell into a criminal conspiracy where an explosive was planted under his car.

The explosion occurred around 6:55 a.m. when an explosive device planted under his Kia Sorento detonated.

Russian investigators suspect Ukrainian intelligence services may be behind the attack, citing similar past incidents.

Sarvarov’s death marks the third high-profile killing of a senior Russian military officer in a year, following the assassinations of Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov and Lt. Gen. Yaroslav Moskalik.

A theory has blamed Ukraine but Ukraine did not make any comment over that.

“On Monday morning an explosive device planted under the bottom of a car was detonated” on Yasenevaya Street in the south of the city,” Russian Investigative Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko said in a statement.

“Investigators are pursuing various theories regarding the murder. One of them is that the crime was orchestrated by Ukrainian intelligence agencies,” Petrenko said.
