WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Sara Jacobs (CA-51) has introduced the Bipartisan IVF for Military Families Act to restore fertility coverage for service members and their families after IVF provisions were removed from the National Defense Authorization Act. She is joined by Reps. Nick LaLota (NY-01), Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06), and Jen Kiggans (VA-02).

Jacobs said military families should not be forced to pay tens of thousands of dollars out-of-pocket or leave the armed forces to access IVF.

“Our military families shouldn’t be denied IVF access just because of politics,” she said.

LaLota called the measure vital to retention and recruitment efforts. Houlahan stressed that infertility is a medical condition, not a luxury, and Kiggans said access should not depend on income.

The lawmakers are urging Congress to move the bill forward quickly, warning that military families face growing financial and emotional strain without IVF coverage.
