The Trump administration on Sunday launched a new Christmas-themed federal website designed to highlight 12 ways the federal government has historically contributed to building the United States, marking a seasonal initiative tied to President Donald Trump’s pledge to emphasize Christmas in national life.
The website, which the administration said was launched over the weekend, features daily posts released in the style of the “12 days of Christmas,” each spotlighting a different historical federal contribution. The initiative is scheduled to continue through Dec. 25 and includes interactive elements such as a live weather tracker for both the North Pole and the White House.
The first daily post, published Sunday, focused on the Works Progress Administration poster program, which was launched during the Great Depression. The program used federally commissioned artwork to promote public morale and convey uplifting messages during a period of widespread economic hardship across the country.
The second entry, which was uploaded Monday, highlights the Great Seal of the United States. Adopted by Congress in 1782, the seal features a bald eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch, along with a shield symbolizing the union of the states. According to the post, the Great Seal has been used on passports, treaties, military insignia, and federal buildings and continues to serve as a foundational design element across the federal government.
“Used on passports, treaties, military insignia, and federal buildings, it remains one of America’s most enduring and influential design elements, anchoring the visual language of the federal government,” the website states.
Administration officials said additional federal highlights will be released daily through Christmas Day, expanding on historical programs, symbols, and initiatives tied to the development of the nation.
The launch of the website aligns with President Trump’s broader messaging on restoring a public emphasis on Christmas. Trump has repeatedly said he intends to reverse what he describes as efforts by Democrats to sideline Christmas in favor of broader holiday inclusivity.
“We’re going to have Merry Christmas just like we got for everybody seven years ago,” Trump said in August 2024, per Fox News. “We brought it back, it was in deep trouble, but we brought it back.”
The administration described the website as both a seasonal celebration and an educational project highlighting historical federal contributions that continue to shape American civic life.
