Iconic director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, have been found stabbed to death in their L.A. home, with multiple sources accusing Reiner’s son, Nick Reiner, of being the murderer. Police have not yet confirmed this, and have not yet even officially confirmed the cause of death. On Sunday, Dec. 14, at about 3:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was called to the Reiner home, where they confirmed the deaths. Rob and Michele were found dead by their daughter, Romy. There were no signs of forced entry, and wounds were found consistent with knife wounds. Police have focused their attention on those within the home, as they did not find any evidence of broken locks, smashed windows, or kicked-in doors at the Reiner home.

Rob Reiner was 78 years old and Michele was 68. Actors Billy Crystal and Larry David arrived separately to the scene and stayed briefly before departing. It is reported that Billy Crystal looked like he was about to cry.

32-year-old Nick Reiner has struggled for years with addiction and homelessness. In a 2016 interview, Nick Reiner has previously spoken about refusing rehab. These struggles have been turned into a screenplay and film titled “Being Charlie”.

In an interview on Sway In The Morning, Reiner explains, “It’s not a secret, he went through a very tough time with drugs, from the age of 15 to 19.” He then explains that the film is based very much on the life of Nick Reiner and his relationship with his father Rob.

Tracy Reiner, adopted daughter of Rob Reiner, states that she is “in shock” over the incident.

The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division has named Nick Reiner as a “person of interest” in this case. At this time, no other details are yet known.
