MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell officially launched his campaign for Minnesota governor on Thursday, confirming reports that he had filed to run last week.

“I’m officially running for Governor of Minnesota. After prayerful consideration and hearing from so many of you across our great state, I’ve made the decision to enter the 2026 gubernatorial race. I’m still standing and I’ll stand for you,” Lindell posted on X.

Lindell enters a competitive Republican primary alongside former state Sen. Scott Jensen, Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth, and state Rep. Kristin Robbins, among others, The Hill reported. The GOP primary is scheduled for August 2026.

In response to Lindell’s announcement, Democratic Gov. Tim Walz—who is seeking a third term—criticized his new challenger on X, writing, “We’ve seen what happens when we elect a con man to the highest office in America. We can’t let it happen here in Minnesota.”

Walz, first elected in 2018, defeated Jensen in 2022 by nearly eight points. The Cook Political Report currently rates the 2026 Minnesota governor’s race as “likely Democratic.”
