The unsealing comes after passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed by President Trump to make the documents public.

A federal judge in New York has ordered the release of grand jury materials related to Jeffrey Epstein’s 2019 sex trafficking case, marking the first major disclosure under President Trump’s newly enacted Epstein Files Transparency Act.
Judge Richard M. Berman of Manhattan approved the unsealing on Wednesday, following earlier motions from Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche seeking the release of records from both the 2019 Epstein and 2020 Ghislaine Maxwell indictments. The Department of Justice argued that public transparency outweighed traditional secrecy protections surrounding grand jury proceedings.
“Given the public interest in the investigative work conducted by the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation into Epstein, the Department of Justice moves the Court to unseal the underlying grand jury transcripts in United States v. Epstein, subject to appropriate redactions,” officials wrote in a court filing reviewed by The Gateway Pundit.
The DOJ motion noted that “transparency to the American public is of the utmost importance to this Administration,” while maintaining that the department continues to stand by prior investigative conclusions.
Initially, judges declined to release the Epstein records, citing grand jury secrecy rules. However, Judge Berman reversed course after the new transparency law mandated public disclosure of all materials tied to the Epstein investigation.
According to CNN, Berman’s decision came a day after another New York judge approved the release of Ghislaine Maxwell’s records and a week after a Florida judge authorized similar disclosures.
President Trump signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act last month, a bipartisan measure that passed overwhelmingly in Congress. Only one Republican, Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana, voted against it, citing privacy concerns for victims. The Senate later approved the bill by unanimous consent.
Trump said the law would help end political speculation surrounding the case. “We have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics,” he said in a statement urging Congress to pass the measure.
