President Donald Trump declared that his administration has not only revitalized the Kennedy Center but “saved” it altogether, crediting the institution’s renewed energy, improvements, and national appeal to the efforts made over the last ten months.

Speaking to Breitbart News White House Correspondent Nick Gilbertson and other reporters before the Kennedy Center Honors event, Trump described sweeping changes he believes have elevated the historic arts venue to new heights.

When Gilbertson asked whether the Kennedy Center is now “better serving all Americans,” Trump did not hesitate.

“I think it is,” Trump said confidently. “I think it’s been really enhanced very greatly over the last 10 months, meaning since we’ve been here, and we’re making it great. We’re going to make it physically great as a building. So, you won’t even believe how beautiful it’ll be.”

Trump went further, making a bold declaration: “And we saved the Kennedy Center. That’s a big thing.”

He emphasized that the improvements have been both operational and structural, and promised even more physical upgrades to restore the building’s elegance and functionality.

The comments came just hours before Trump presided over the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors Medal Presentation Dinner at the State Department.

This year’s honorees—country legend George Strait, rock icons KISS, Broadway luminary Michael Crawford, disco queen Gloria Gaynor, and actor Sylvester Stallone—were celebrated as what Trump described as the “most accomplished and renowned class” in the history of the Honors program.

“This is a group of icons whose work and accomplishments have inspired, uplifted, and unified millions and millions of Americans,” he said during his remarks. “This is perhaps the most accomplished and renowned class of Kennedy Center honorees ever assembled.”

Earlier that evening, Trump personally presented each honoree with a newly designed gold medallion donated by Tiffany & Co., replacing the institution’s long-standing rainbow medal design. The change is part of a larger rebranding effort Trump has overseen since appointing himself Chairman of the Kennedy Center earlier this year.

Trump first announced this year’s honorees in August, shortly after initiating major restructuring efforts within the center. According to reporting from Breitbart News’s Paul Bois, Trump’s takeover prompted several longtime stars and board members to resign, signaling a significant cultural and administrative shift within the institution.

Despite the departures, Trump maintains that the Kennedy Center is stronger than ever, pointing to increased fundraising, national attention, and a wave of modernization efforts underway.

As Trump continues reshaping the direction and identity of the Kennedy Center, he insists the changes are designed to benefit all Americans and restore the venue to what he views as its rightful place as the nation’s premier cultural landmark.
