A chilling video circulating online shows three masked and armed men in Northern Ireland declaring that far-left local politicians are now “legitimate targets,” citing opposition to mass immigration and “sexual indoctrination” of children in schools.

The men, identifying themselves as members of a group called the “New Republican Movement,” appeared in the video wearing balaclavas and holding weapons as one read a statement denouncing elected officials in Newry, Mourne and Down. The video, posted on social media by Real News Éire, accused local councillors and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of betraying the people they serve.

“To the people of Newry, Mourne and Down: We, the New Republican Movement, have watched your councillors and MLAs over the past 12 months,” one of the masked men said. “The level of disrespect shown to the people who put you into power cannot be ignored any longer. We are proud men of Ireland. We are patriots.”

The speaker went on to condemn local leaders for allowing “undocumented, military-aged men” into communities, claiming that such policies threaten Irish culture and religion.

“Your policies and decision-making in regard to flooding our communities with undocumented, military-aged men are not acceptable,” he said. “We will not sit back any longer and watch our culture and religion destroyed by the people we put in power.”

The group also warned against what it described as “the sexual indoctrination of our children in schools,” declaring that those responsible would be “legitimate targets.”

“The New Republican Movement will take immediate action against anyone who threatens our way of life and the safety of our women and children. We have your addresses and know your movements. Every one of you is a legitimate target as of today,” the statement concluded.

The video ended with the men signing off as “The New Republican Movement — the 28th of November.”

The footage has prompted condemnation from elected officials. Newry and Armagh Democratic Socialist MP Dáire Hughes condemned the video, describing the group as “sinister” and “faceless thugs.”

“The sinister threats issued by faceless thugs against elected members of Newry, Mourne and Down are an attack on democracy and on the mandate each of us as elected members receives from the public,” Hughes said. “Let me be crystal clear: these faceless individuals represent no one and they will not deter me or my party colleagues from carrying out our work, every day, representing our constituents.”

Authorities have not confirmed whether the group has any operational capacity or links to existing paramilitary organizations. However, the video’s rhetoric has drawn concern across Northern Ireland, recalling decades-old tensions and the use of intimidation by extremist factions.

The emergence of the “New Republican Movement” highlights the persistence of deep cultural and political divides in the region — now amplified by disputes over immigration, social policy, and the future of local governance.
