Washington, D.C. – Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau will travel to Brussels, Belgium, from December 2–3 to participate in the NATO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the State Department announced on Monday.

According to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, Landau’s visit will focus on urgent security priorities for the Alliance, including increased defense investment among NATO members and the full implementation of commitments made during The Hague Summit.

U.S. officials say the meetings come at a critical moment as NATO allies face mounting global security challenges. Landau is expected to push for stronger burden-sharing and to emphasize Washington’s position that all members must meet their defense-spending obligations.

While in Brussels, Landau will also hold separate engagements with American businesses operating in Europe. His discussions will center on advancing President Trump’s economic priorities, including rebalancing trade relationships and creating a more favorable business environment for U.S. investment and exports across the European Union.

The Deputy Secretary’s visit underscores the administration’s dual strategy of strengthening NATO’s deterrence capabilities while simultaneously promoting American commercial interests overseas.
