A Day's Too Long

A Day's Too Long

By Anonymous, before 221BC

Indigo thy lapel, longing in my heart.

Don't thou send me letters, albeit thee not visited?

Indigo thy girdle, longing in my mind.

Don't thou come to see me, albeit thee not visited?

I'm on this watch tower, going round and round.

A day of missing thee, as if months long!

Footnote:

• Indigo, a traditional colour of the gown worn by ancient scholars.
• Man on the photo is Mr FANG Bin, who was a Wuhan virus whistle-blower in 2020 and secretly imprisoned by the CCP regime for three years. Texts are that of the ancient Chinese poem, translated into English in this article.

Update on 2023-07-04：

After Mr FANG Bin (#方斌) came out of prison, some #Wuhan citizens had a meal with him. But he was questioned by the police and warned.
