Mother pleads for driver to surrender after fatal hit-and-run

The mother of a 29-year-old woman killed in a hit-and-run crash in Southwest Philadelphia is pleading with the driver responsible to come forward.

Philadelphia police said the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday on the 7200 block of Elmwood Avenue in the city's Eastwick neighborhood.

Investigators said Talyia Bernice Nesmith had just exited an Uber and was crossing Elmwood Avenue from the south side of the street to the north when she was struck by a black car traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed.
