Striking at the heart of the regime’: Trump expected to escalate fight against Iran

Retired US Air Force Brigadier General John Teichert says US President Donald Trump is expected to escalate America’s fight against Iran by “striking at the heart of the regime”.

“I do think the military is giving the president options,” Mr Teichert told Sky News Australia.

“There have been a few things that the president said last week about starting to strike at the heart of the regime – energy sites and power plants and logistics facilities and transportation facilities in and around Tehran that are mapped to the ability of the regime’s ability to project power.

“I find that that’s more likely a scenario after these Americans’ deaths that we’re going to start striking at the heart of the regime in a way that frankly we didn’t even during the six weeks of actual combat operations.”
