Like a city in the sky, how was this wooden house atop the hill built?
Perched atop a mountain range, a colossal rock stands majestically. Remarkably, on this rock, only 10 square meters in size, an ancient palace was built. At an altitude of 2736 meters, it is surrounded by sheer cliffs on three sides and towering peaks on all sides. From afar, it resembles an isolated city in the sky. The path to the summit is treacherous. Two natural fissures in the rock are barely wide enough for one person to pass through. This is one of the steepest structures on Mount Lushan in Shanxi Province: the Prince's Palace. Construction began during the Tang Dynasty, over 1300 years ago. It's hard to imagine: why did the ancients build in such a precarious location? And how did they manage to transport every brick and tile to the mountaintop? Today, let's climb this cliff and uncover its mysteries.
