The pastor who wants to repeal voting rights for women is becoming more mainstream - Newsmakers

Earlier this year, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth invited Pastor Doug Wilson to give a sermon at the Pentagon. He was invited as part of Hegseth’s monthly Christian worship service. Wilson’s appearance at the Pentagon was controversial. He is a self-described Christian nationalist who has called for repealing women’s right to vote. He has defended slavery and believes homosexuality should be a crime.Those beliefs are extreme and not long ago they were considered fringe. But today, Wilson's teachings are entering the mainstream, according to religious scholars.

NPR's Leila Fadel sat down with Doug Wilson at his main church in Moscow, Idaho, to hear more about why he wants the U.S. to become a Christian theocracy and what that would mean for women and non-Christians in the country.
