Why Is The Middle Band Striped?
1 Video View·Jun 30, 2026
This piece caught our attention because the glaze didn’t settle evenly.
Instead, it formed clear horizontal bands, and the middle section developed a striped pattern we don’t see very often.
On simple cylindrical forms like this, even small differences in thickness, heat, and surface contour can change how Jun glaze gathers and breaks during firing.
That’s what makes pieces like this so interesting — one surface can show several glaze behaviors at the same time.
Made in a single firing. One result only.
