They re Not Just Heads 1 000 Buried GIANTS Are Hiding Beneath Easter Island

On the loneliest island on Earth, the Easter Island heads are not heads at all — full bodies lie buried beneath them.
Nearly a thousand moai statues stand on Rapa Nui, each one hiding shoulders, arms and folded hands sunk three or four metres into the earth — some covered in carvings no one on the surface ever saw. And the bodies are only the first secret. In 2025, researchers Carl Lipo and Terry Hunt proved the islanders' oldest claim was true: the statues "walked," rocking upright across miles of broken ground. The same people may have invented writing entirely on their own — the rongorongo tablets are dated more than 200 years before any European arrived.
