Apparition Coin Set Review. Craig Petty and Alakazam
The Apparition Coin Set by Craig Petty and Alakazam has been sitting on my shelf for years, and I'm honest in the video about why. I finally sat down, learned it properly, took it out to perform, and I'm so glad I did.
In short: two big coins, an Eisenhower Dollar and a Chinese coin, a gimmicked little purse, and some of the most visual transpositions you can do right in someone's hands. The core moment, where a coin changes in a spectator's closed fist in front of their eyes, is worth the price on its own. Everyone I've shown it to has been floored. The download gives you a multi-phase Nardi routine, a chop, prediction work and a stack of others, plus a lovely stone kicker I really rate. The coins are by Roy Kueppers, properly made but not silly money, which I reckon is pitched just right. Credit where it's due, the effect has its roots in Justin Miller's Dream Purse, and Alakazam credit that too.
My honest take, and you get the full version in the video: the purse looks a touch unusual, and if you're the sort who hands everything out for a rummage, that's worth a thought. But keep the pace up and them engaged and it's a non-issue, and there are clean-up options if you want them. Not for everyone, but if you fancy a leg-up into gimmick coin work, or you just love a visual change in their hands, it's brilliant.
